Floodplains XYZ is a virtual world based art project from Michelle Brown (The Bad Lament), supported by despace Berlin and Arts Help. Floodplains XYZ will launch to coincide with NFT Paris (Feb 24 & 25) at a pop-up gallery space in Le Marais on Feb 23.
An immersive 3D storytelling experience, Floodplains XYZ incorporates collectible NFTs on Tezos to highlight the impact climate change has on weather and habitability and to raise funds for climate action.
Floodplains focuses on the climate's changing weather conditions by placing the participant inside a 3D environment simulating a home raised above ground, with heavy rains and flood water rising, highlighting the stress, anxiety and devastation that rising water can have on those impacted by flooding.
Participants have three minutes to search the house with the goal to discover collectible memento items (NFTs) and choose five to take with them and get to a boat before the water gets too high. There are ten memento items to choose from and depending on the NFTs collected, collectors will continue to receive updates on the story through their Tezos wallet and future drops. There are also hidden Easter egg collectibles in the experience which will unlock limited edition items and special access.
People can experience the interactive project through either a web based browser connected to a Tezos wallet on desktop computer, or as a VR experience on a compatible headset. Entry requires the purchase of a Floodplains XYZ token.
Along with raising awareness about extreme weather events, 20% of all income generated through Floodplains XYZ will be donated to climate action via - https://www.coolearth.org/
Floodplains XYZ will launch the night before NFT Paris on February 23 at a special pop up gallery event in Le Marais, Paris from 6pm till 9pm. During the opening attendees will have the chance to try the experience on a laptop or with one of the VR headsets.
